On November 13, 2024, the Concrete Pavement Maturity Workshop was held at California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) in Sacramento, focusing on the benefits of using maturity testing to expedite the opening of concrete pavements to traffic. The event, organized by the Iowa State Concrete Pavement Technology Center (CP Tech Center), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and the Southwest Concrete Pavement Association (SWCPA), aimed to educate industry professionals on the maturity concept, available tools for implementing maturity, Caltrans 2024 Standard Specifications 40-1.03L Use of Maturity to Determine Opening to Traffic Concrete Strength, and American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) T 413 Standard, which streamlines the use of maturity testing.

COMMAND Center™ was represented by Sabrina Garber, who gave a well-received presentation on how the COMMAND Center system can be used to implement maturity. As the first vendor to present, Sabrina highlighted COMMAND Center’s solutions and demonstrated how they help contractors and engineers make faster, data-driven decisions in the field.

The workshop highlighted both the challenges and the opportunities for promoting maturity testing in California. It sparked valuable conversations about how to accelerate adoption. A key takeaway for COMMAND Center was the potential to further drive innovation in providing faster, more efficient pavement project solutions.

Stay tuned for more updates on maturity testing and how COMMAND Center can support your projects.
